Joe Fischer, a talented musician and songwriter, was twenty years old when he noticed two of his fingers felt partly numb. Three weeks later, he was diagnosed with stage IV brain cancer and given twelve to fifteen months to live.
He died at the age of twenty-four.
Forward in the Fog: A Mother’s Memoir of Trusting God with a Broken Heart relates my experience as Joe’s caregiver, companion, advocate and friend, and finally, grieving mother. I have learned that one doesn’t move on from grief, one moves forward with it. During my season of raw grief, I found God to be steadfast in His care and mercy. I know there is hope and healing after loss. My prayer is that this book will comfort and benefit anyone who is suffering loss or questioning the goodness of God during difficult times.
I took notes about parenting while raising my kids, and recently I gathered the notes and made a little book for parents. In a page-a-day format I share what worked for us and what didn’t (and why there are marigolds on the cover). Several helpful appendices include Great Children’s Books, Great Art to share with children, Great Music to share with children, sample chore charts, and a Kitchen Duty schedule for the kids!
If you have enjoyed this book, I would appreciate a review on Amazon. Thanks!
